This Week: Overdrilling, Overfishing, Don Dohler, and a Treehouse

Released this week, Joe Berlinger’s “Crude” unearths the effects of Chevron’s oil exploration of the Ecuadorean Amazon in a high stakes legal drama. This cinéma-vérité feature exposes of one of the largest and most controversial environmental lawsuits on the planet, known as the “Amazon Chernobyl” case. It traces the history between corporate giant Chevron/Texaco and the people of the region from the early days of extraction in the late 1950s up to the recent billion-dollar lawsuit filed by the affected tribespeople.  The recent winner of the International Green Film Award at the Cinema for Pace gala in Berlin, ”Crude” shows in vivid detail the extent of land and water contamination inflicted on the environment and a clean up that is long overdue.
